Update: Defense attorney David Oscar Marcus told the Tampa Tribune in an email Tuesday, “We are excited that the case can finally start proceeding. Mark is innocent and the government’s case has got no soul.”
U.S. Magistrate Anthony Porcelli ordered Buju held without bail today at the arraignment hearing, today.
U.S. immigration issued a “Detainer” for Buju which means he will be taken to immigration custody once released on bail. His attorney said he wouldn’t seek bail the detainer is lifted.

Buju Banton (Mark Anthony Myrie) is being held in a Federal Detention center in Miami, Florida on drug related charges. He was, apparently, arrested last Thursday December 10, on a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.
The Grammy nominated artist’s Facebook or Myspace pages makes no mention of his arrest or how this will affect his future appearances in continuing to promote his Rasta Got Soul album.
