Ok, the latest update on Buju’s arrest is starting to surface.
Several news sources are reporting the details of the events that , eventually, led to his arrest along with two other individuals.
The allegation is that Buju and two other individuals, went to a city in Central Florida, the week of his arrest, to purchase drugs. An informant was involved in the deal and tipped off law enforcement, who then ask the informant to wear a “wire” (recorder.)
Buju had contacted the informant that Monday about purchasing some amount of cocaine.
The following day, Tuesday, Buju and company arrived in a silver Land Rover with the license plate “Jah One,” which identified the vehicle as his, to meet the informant in a restaurant not realizing law enforcement was watching and recording the deal.
They all ended up going to a warehouse where the deal was supposed to go down. The warehouse itself was a setup point…law enforcement still watching.
The dealer pulled out a 20-kilo brick of cocaine and one of Buju’s associates slice it open with a knife so that they could check it out.
Buju was the one who did the taste testing, according to the police affidavit, after he wiped the cocaine residue off the knife blade with his finger.
There were two more, subsequent, meetings between the informant and Buju’s associates.
On Thursday, the day of the “pick up,” two of Buju’s associates got arrested and law enforcement later got Buju that same day in Miami, Florida.
Buju Banton is now being held in Federal Detention in Miami, Florida, awaiting transfer to Central Florida. Hearing is set for Wednesday.
The American justice system is such that an accused is innocent until proven guilty, until then, these are all accusations.
